The Joint National Committee for Zionist Organizations today issued a statement expressing the view the White Paper is a “serious mistake.” Over the signature of Rabbi Jesse Schwartz, of the Zionist Organization of Canada, the statement said that Canadian Jews shared with Jews the world over dismay at the new policy. Conviction is expressed that the White Paper “does not reflect the views of the British people, whose love of justice and fair play found expression in their spontaneous approval of the Balfour Declaration.”
