The Czech press published Protector Baron Konstantin von Neurath’s anti-Jewish decree without comments. Two of the most widely circulated Czech dailies, the Cesko Slovo and the Narodni Politika, published the decree without editorials, merely quoting the opinion expressed by the Voelkischer Beobachter, official organ of the German Nazi Party.
This attitude is regarded here as constituting passive resistance to the measures. Czech circles describe the decree as forced on the Czechs, declaring: “We were forced to accept the protectorate and now we are forced to accept the anti-Jewish law.” It is expected that the Protectorate Government’s Jewish law will be published shortly, incorporating the definition of a Jew and the restrictions embodied in the von Neurath decree.
