The Manchester Guardian declared editorially today that the Commons vote on the Palestine immigration ban was “most discouraging” to the Government. The newspaper pointed out that only 188 of the Government bloc of 420 supported the Colonial Office decree, while the Opposition, which rolled up a vote of 119 included three Tories, Vyvyan Adams, S.S. Hammersley and A.C. Moreing.
