A sharp increase in the number of Jews in the military reserve forces of the Union of South Africa has resulted in a shortage of Jewish chaplains, it was learned today. The shortage was made known in a letter by General J.J. Collyer, Director of Reserves, to Board of Deputies of South African Jews. The General’s request for more chaplains was turned over to the rabbinate, which will shortly submit a list of candidates.
