The Belgian Government’s decision to deport 3,000 refugees who entered Belgium after April 30 was criticized today by the Antwerp liberal newspaper, Flandre, which declared that “Belgium will not become bankrupt if she decides to spend another 6,000,000 francs on 3,000 refugees.”

The Journal de Malmedy reported that “heart-breaking scenes are taking daily on the Belgian-German frontier, with whole families wandering along the border like hunted beasts seeking to cross into Belgium.”
