Count Mazzilini, Italian Consul General, today denied that Arthur Hochdorf had been dismissed as Palestine manager of the Italian Adriatica Line because of racial reasons. He said the dismissal followed Hochdorf’s refusal to take a reduction in salary made for reasons of economy. He added that 15 of the line’s 34 local employes were Jews and that not a single Jew had been dismissed either by Italian Consulates or firms in Palestine.
