Israel Friedkin, publisher of the Jewish Morning Journal, died last night at Roye, France, where he had gone to take treatment for a heart ailment, the Morning Journal announced today. He was 49. His wife and three children survive him.
Mr. Friedkin, who was born in Jersey City, N.J., was the nephew of Jacob Saphirstein, founder of the Morning Journal and became publisher on the latter’s death in 1916. He was a member of the Masons, the Elks, the American Academy of Political Science and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
