Czech attending a performance of Elmer Rice’s play, “Street Scene, “in the Prague People’s Theater greeted with a burst of applause the line, “After all, Jews are human beings.” The Times reported today from the capital of the “protectorate.” The line has been removed from the play at the Czech police observer on duty in the theater, the report said.

Jewish shops which handle a large part of the retail trade in the country districts of Bohemia-Moravia have not suffered any appreciable loss in business since the German occupation, The Times said. Customers are not deterred by the branding of these shops as Jewish. In many instances the notices “Jewish Shop” pasted on windows have been defaced with slogans informing the owners that they need not worry.
