5 Ghaffirs Wounded in Palestine Blast

Five Jewish supernumeraries were wounded today when an armored car in which they were riding struck a land mine near Ekron scene of a similar incident last week. Two of the ghaffirs Moshe Seidel 27 and Paul Schwartz 27 were seriously injured.

A Tel Aviv court sentenced a Jewish boy of 14 to 12 lashes for distributing a proclamation issued by the “National Military Organization”

The authorities it was learned have instituted confidential inquiries among physicians engineers and mechanics concerning their willingness to enlist for war service. Replying affirmatively Jewish physicians are understood to have pointed out that many capable doctors are among refugees adrift on ships in the Mediterranean. They urged that the refugees be brought to Palestine where they could be of use in the event of war.

It was announced officially that Colonial Secretary Malcolm MacDonald has notified the Palestine Government that he is asking the British Government to allot £235000 toward the expense of draining the Huleh swamp where Jewish colonies are being established.

The Government it was learned is preparing an order-in-council specifying that alien women who marry Palestine citizens do not become Palestine citizens automatically.
