The Jewish Welfare Society today was carrying out complete registration of refugees to safeguard their interests in the event of war. The Government has not decided on its policy, but is known to be sympathetic.

A federal conference of Jewish welfare committees will be held in Sydney tomorrow. Anxiety was felt about the refugees aboard Italian and German liners, which are not calling at Australian ports.

Meanwhile, following the Western Australian Government’s approval in principle of settlement of Jewish refugees in the Kimberleys, Dr. Isaac M. Steinberg, honorary secretary of the Freiland Jewish Territorial League, left for Canberra to approach the Federal Government, with which the final decision rests.
