It was announced officially today that 135,000 Jews have registered for war service in response to a joint call issued by the Jewish Agency for Palestine and the Jewish National Council.
The volunteers, of whom 100,000 are men, comprise 85 per cent of all adult Jewish males in Palestine. The Jewish population of the Holy Land totals 460,000.
