Repatriation of 300,000 Swiss citizens from abroad has precipitated a crisis in the refugee situation here, climaxed by the announcement by the chief of the Federal police that all refugees who arrived in Switzerland after Sept. 6 would be subject to deportation without excuse. The announcement said that the authorities were preparing “fundamental decisions” with regard to supervision of refugees.
The problem of the Swiss repatriates is occupying much public attention here. Recep-tion committees have been formed all over the country and the problem of finding employ-ment for the repatriates is being given considerable thought. The newspaper Neue Zuricher Zeitung suggests editorially that the right to work be taken from the 360,000 aliens in Switzerland in order to find employment for the returned Swiss citizens.
