The question of the kosher meat supply when rationing is introduced in Britain has been the subject of negotiations between the Ministry of Food and the Board of Affairs for Shechita (kosher slaughter), it was learned today.
The board has communicated with every Jewish community in the country, established its precise needs and notified the ministry of their requirements. The ministry is under stood to be seeking to do everything possible to meet the Jewish needs, but obviously cannot guarantee that the kosher food supply will be maintained.
Jews and vegetarians will have the privilege of obtaining an extra ration of butter or margarine instead of ham and bacon.
