WASHINGTON (Nov. 13)
Hundreds of congratulatory messages poured down today on the home of Louis Dembitz Brandeis, retired Supreme Court Justice, as he celebrated his 83rd birthday. The ex-Justice himself adhered to the routine he has observed since he retired from the bench. During the morning he received a few of his oldest friends and in the afternoon he took a nap.
Friends said that Mr. Brandeis was now in excellent health. The jurist, appointed to the Supreme Court by President Woodrow Wilson in 1918, retired last February.
Dr. Solomon Goldman, president of the Zionist Organization of America, spent an hour with Justice Brandeis today. “I found the Justice in good health, optimistic, of the same unflagging interest in the problems confronting America, the world, and Jewry,” he said.
“As usual he refrained from making any statement, but it was evident that he follows with the keenest interest all that is happening in the world today.”
