It was officially announced today that the General Officer in Command has reduced the prison sentences meted out to 43 Jews by a military court at Acre on Oct. 30 for possession of arms in violation of the emergency regulations.
The life sentence of Avshalom Thau, architect and former sergeant of railway police, was commuted to ten years. The 10-year terms of the other 42 were reduced to five years. The 43, all members of the Palestine Jewish labor federation, were arrested on Oct. 5 while conducting practice maneuvers near Yavniel.
