The Cabinet Council today announced far-reaching amendments to the Defence of Canada regulations for the purpose of curtailing subversive movements and organizations of all kinds, including Nazis and Communists, during wartime.

The major change provides that officers of subversive organizations will be held personally responsible for any breach of regulations by the association with which they are connected. On conviction by a court as an “illegal organization,” a Nazi, Communist or other association can be wiped out completely, once the organization or its officers are proved to have violated the defence regulations.
