Josef Veszi, for many years editor-in-chief of the leading Hungarian newspaper Pester Lloyd and a member of the Upper House of Parliament, died today after a sudden attack of pneumonia. He was 82 years old.
Veszi, who was a member of the executive committee of the Budapest Jewish Community, was one of Hungary’s leading Jews. Admiral Nicholas Horthy, Regent of Hungary, sent a message of condolence to his widow. Among others who sent messages were Count Bartholomew Szechenyi, president of the Upper House; Minister of Education Valentine Homan and the office of Premier Paul Teleki.
Dr. Julius Miklos, for the past eight years president of the Zionist Federation of Hungary, died Sunday of angina pectoris. He was 53 years old. He was also a member of the executive committee of the Budapest Jewish Community.
