The Evening News, a Rothermere paper, today editorially attacked the Government decision to contribute to the maintenance of refugees in England. Recalling that it had warned when the refugees were admitted that the taxpayer would not escape, the paper said: “The announcement yesterday shows that the refugee is already another burden on his shoulders.”
