A special commission sent by the Interior Ministry to Wilno to survey the situation of refugees from Poland reported today that 50,000 of the 90,000 aliens living in the Wilno district were in distress and required public assistance. The report said 1,500,000 liths were required for direct relief and declared the problem could only be solved by the cooperation of the Red Cross and other private relief organizations.
Meanwhile, the Wilno Red Cross decided to enlarge the Jewish section of the Red Cross, which is responsible for relief among Jewish war sufferers in the district. The Wilno Jewish Community is putting its entire welfare department staff at the disposal of the Red Cross Jewish Section.
