Grants to the Central Committee of Refugees as a contribution to maintenance of refugees in England have totalled £207,000, it was revealed in the House of Commons today by Home Secretary Sir John Anderson.

Presiding at a meeting of the Joint Orthodox Refugee Committee, H. A. Goodman, secretary of the Agudath Israel, reported that the committee has placed more than 500 Jewish refugees from Belgium and Holland in this country. He said the refugees were continuing to arrive and that the committee’s representatives, in close cooperation with the London Country Council and the Ministry of Health, were present at all reception depots to facilitate the billeting of the refugees, most of whom are orthodox.
