An increased flow of refugees from the Reich and German-occupied territories is expected here as result of decisions by the Soviet and Manchukuoan authorities to permit transit of refugees across Siberia and Manchukuo.
According to information received here, persons holding permits for admission to Shanghai will in the future be able to proceed via a land route. This means a considerable reduction in travel expenses, as compared with the sea journey from Italian ports, which in any case is now closed to refugees.
Prospective emigrants will also be able to buy tickets in Reichsmarks instead of foreign currency. New transit facilities may also make it possible for refugees to reach Shanghai via Vladivostok, thus eliminating the formalities connected with obtaining a Manchukuoan transit visa.
