Hebrew University students called a strike today charging that the University had discontinued support of those who, because of the war, have been cut off from their parents in European countries.
The University countered the charge with a statement explaining that it had fulfilled a promise made last September to support 250 students in this category for the duration of the year. The students were now demanding, the statement added, support during the Summer vacation period and the University has arranged assistance for one month for needy cases and is ready to help students obtain further means of support.
The University has distributed L3.500 in relief and has made exemptions and subventions totalling L5,900, the statement said, adding that national institutions had failed to fulfill promises of aid.
