German authorities at Bordeaux, France, announced that Leizer Karp, a Polish Jew, had been executed by a firing squad for “attacking” German army bandsmen, the Associated Press reported today in a dispatch from Vichy. Karp, the first civilian executed by the German army in occupied French territory, assertedly “attacked” the bandsmen during the raising of the Nazi swastika at the St. Jean railroad station at Bordeaux last Saturday, the dispatch said.
