70,000 Jews Barred from Occupied France As Repatriation Nears End

Download PDF for this date

It was officially announced today that repatriation of refugees to occupied France was nearing its end, but some categories of refugees must remain in the free zone because of the German ban on their return–meaning Jews and Negroes.

It is unofficially estimated that the number of refugee Jews compelled to remain in the free zone is more than 70,000, including foreign Jewish refugees. Concern is felt over their future and also over their belongings in the occupied zone.
