The German total war in Poland was responsible for conditions in Warsaw favorable to the spread of disease and not the negligence of Polish authorities, the Polish Information Center charged in a statement issued today.

Citing a dispatch from Alvin Steinkopf, Associated Press correspondent, from Warsaw, in which the Nazis claimed they had built a ghetto wall in Warsaw to prevent the outbreak of epidemics supposedly existing in that part of the city, the statement said this was an example of German propaganda seeking to hide the real purpose of the wall. The action of the Germans is “reminiscent of the darkest ages of history,” the statement added.
