More than 100 of the leading Eurpean scholars, now refugees from their native lands, will be brought this country during the coming year through the aid of foundation grants totaling close to $500,000, Dr. Alvin Johnson, director of the New School of Social Research has announced. A number of the scholars will be absorbed by the New School’s “University of Exile.” A special emergency committee grouping leading American educators has been formed to help place the incoming scholars, Dr. Johnson said.
