The 22nd anniversary of the Balfour Declaration was commemorated by the Jewish population here on Saturday night. The Chilean newspapers Mercurio and Nacion marked the occasion with editorials stressing this country’s friendship for the Jews and Palestine.
The anniversary was cited by Samuel Goren, president of the Chilean Zionist Federation; Samuel Greiver, representative of the Jewish Agency, and other Jewish leaders at the opening of the 22nd Chilean Zionist Congress on Saturday. British, Polish and United States diplomatic envoys to Chile sent messages to the Congress expressing the hope that Jewish aspirations in Palestine would be realized.
