In an article on Palestine’s economic progress, The London Economist stresses the country’s growing self sufficiency, pointing out that it is expected to be able to supply 75 per cent of its flour requirements, while production of dairy produce, vegetables and other foods is similarly increasing.
The journal states that industrial development has also been stimulated and the country will soon be self-supplying in textiles and metal goods. It described a significant increase in chemicals production and stresses: “It is remarkable that despite the war Jewish development in Palestine has not been checked.
The periodical Great Britain and the East reports that an arrangement is under way for export of Palestine potash via Basra instead of Haifa. If the arrangement proves practicable, hundreds of lorries will be used for transport of potash.
