David Lazarus, 17-year-old pupil of the Jews Free School, was recommended for an award for bravery today for rescuing four persons from a bombed block of flats during a recent air raid.

The boy worked heroically while more bombs were falling and was seriously injured by a collapsing wall and deeply buried under tons of bricks and stones. He is now in a hospital in dangerous condition.
