Headed by James N. Rosenberg, president of the Dominican Republic Settlement Association, an American delegation will sail tomorrow on the S.S. Cosmo to participate in the Sosua Colony ceremonies marking the first anniversary of the agreement for the settlement of 100,000 refugees in the Dominican Republic.
Those sailing include Robert T. Pell, of the State Department; George L. Warren, executive secretary of the President’s Advisory Committee on Refugees and Harold F. Linder of the Coordinating Foundation.
Accredited representatives of 32 nations, members of the Intergovernmental Committee for Refugees, will meet in Ciuded Trujillo, capitol of the Dominican Republic. Three days of conference will be presided over by the Dominican President. Receptions for the delegation have been arranged by United States Minister Robert T. Scotten, by British Minister Alexander S. Paterson, the Dominican Government and the Association. On February 1, President Troncoso will lead the delegation across the country by motor cars, to Sosua, the site of the first settlement, where detailed plans of enlargement of the work will be discussed. The settlers will take part in these discussions.
Enroute in San Juan, at Porto Rico, the delegation will be received by Governor Gallardo at La Fortaleza, and by General Daley of the United States Army, and by the Admiral in Command of the Navy. The Governor has invited the delegation to a dinner in their honor which several hundred Puerto Ricans will attend.
Practical plans are to be put into effect for the enlargement of the work.
