Ex-Senator William H. King said today he would confer with Interior Department officials next week preparatory to seeking reintroduction of the bill calling for establishment of European refugee colonies in Alaska, which he sponsored in the last Congress.
King said the conference with Interior officials who worked on the project would review the measure in an effort to determine whether amendments could be made which would eliminate some of the objections encountered in the last Congress, “without materially affecting the very worthy basic objectives of the colonization proposal.”
The ex-Senator declared he would not seek a sponsor for the measures among his former colleagues until after the revision had been completed. He added that he wished to find a senator “who will give this proposal the attention it deserves in light of present world conditions and America’s responsibility as a member of the dwindling group of civilized governments.”
