The first direct call from the Lublin Jewish reservation in Poland has reached the Hebrew Sheltering and Immigrant Aid Society. The call, which was passed by the Nazi censors, came from the “Rada Zydowska w Lublinie” (Jewish Council in Lublin) and asked aid and cooperation in extending to the prisoners of the “reservation” the benefit of the rescue through emigration service.
Dated Dec. 18, it asks HIAS to secure relief and ultimately to make possible the overseas emigration of those residents of the Lublin “reservation” whose relatives or friends in the United States and other countries are in a position to issue the necessary affidavits and other documents.
