At least one-third of the British Palestine Foundation Fund’s quota of L75,000 already has been raised, Simon Marks, vice-president of the British Zionist Federation, declared at today’s meeting of the British section of the Jewish Agency for Palestine.

In an address at the meeting, Marks said “for us Jews Europe is finished; Hitler destroyed other nations but they at least have their land.”

“We must turn our eyes away from Europe and direct them toward Palestine, with which we are concerned today and forever,” he continued.

Lady Reading, presiding at the meeting, pointed out that the launching of the campaign for the Palestine Foundation Fund in the midst of the greatest war in history and the greatest aerial bombardment ever known, with invasion a daily menace, might seem fantastic and ludicrous. But the Zionists must show that nothing can deflect them from building up Palestine, she said.

“Hitler is not going to stop us from what we want to do in Palestine,” Lady Reading went on. “Nothing in the world, no forces, not even the world war, can keep the Jews from going to their home.”
