Kos her biscuits and tea were served today by the Brixton Unitarian Congregation, acting as hosts to members of the Brixton synagogue at a social gathering convened in the synagogue hall to express thanks of the Unitarians for the hospitality offered them by the synagogue after the Unitarian church had been bombed some time ago.
At the rabbi’s invitation, the Unitarians have since held regular Sunday services in the synagogue hall, which was announced in a notice posted on the bombed church building. Jews and Unitarians joined in singing the “Brixton hymn,” which was written by Unitarians after the bombing of the church.
Rabbi Swift declared he acted not from compassion but out of duty. Help thy neighbor’ has been preached by the Jews for 2,000 years,” he said.
