News has reached here of the death at Nice, at the age of 76, of ex-Senator A.M.S. Van Den Bergh, a leading figure in Dutch public life and for many years a member of the Dutch Parliament.
The ex-Senator played a notable part in Jewish affairs in Holland and was highly respected by his co-religionists and also by non-Jews. He was a liberal supporter of Zionist effort, a member of the Netherlands Council of the Keren Hayesod and the Netherlands representative of the Jewish Agency.
He was created a Knight and later a Commander in a Royal Order, by Queen Wilhelmina, in recognition of his public work.
