The Maritime Commission today refused permission for the United States Lines to send two liners to Lisbon to transport U.S. citizens and holders of American visas to this country. It was understood the commission feared the risk of sending two valuable potential naval auxiliaries into European waters. The U.S. lines had intended to send the liners Manhattan and Washington to Lisbon.
