Following this week’s appeal by the Agudath Israel for united action of Jewish organizations on Palestine, a special meeting of the Palestine Committee of the Board of Deputies of British Jews was held today with Agudists, Zionists and Revisionists participating together for the first time.
A conference of the British Agudath Israel, ettended by more than 250 delegates from all parts of the country, had appealed for cooperation of all Jewish groups in support of Palestine because of the critical hour.
Resolutions were also adopted expressing confidence in an Allied victory that would restore the freedom of European Jews and make possible continuation of the “glorious traditions of Jewish life,” welcoming Polish Premier Sikorski’s declaration of Jewish equality in a liberated Poland and expressing conviction that Poles and Jews would fight side by side for restoration of their common fatherland.
H.A. Goodman, presiding, stressed that the threat to Palestine called for cooperation of all Jewish organizations concerned with Palestine and declared that the whole Palestine Jewish community would rise to defend their soil. “In this hour of danger to Palestine,” he said, “Agudists, Zionists and Revisionists should do their utmost to achieve cooperation.”
