The Paris press today carries stories accusing the Jews of “invading” the rural areas in the guise of summer vacationists, and there spreading De Gaullist propaganda among the peasantry. The newspapers also charge that while in the country the Jews purchase great amounts of foodstuffs, “thus hampering the flow of supplies to the cities.”
Attention of the authorities is also called to the fact that some Jewish students have been admitted to examinations at the Ecole Normale Superieure, the normal school located in Paris, although Jews have been barred from the teaching profession. The press demands that Jewish students not be admitted to the higher examinations.
Another report reveals that following the closing to Jews of the picturesque Parisian auction rooms of Hotel Ventes, the “Marche Aux Puces,” long familiar to American tourists as the “Flea Market,” has also been purged of Jews.
