Wholesale arrests and executions of Jews were reported here today to be on the increase in Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Hungary and other Nazi-dominated countries in retaliation for the growing anti-Nazi sabotage there.

The Nazi-controlled radio stations in Budapest, Bratislava and Norway confirmed today that “another batch of 87 Jews and Communists have been executed” in Yugoslavia. This, they said, was in revenge for a bomb thrown at a parade of Nazi troops in Zagreb. Fifty Jews and Serbs were reported by the same radio stations as having been executed when a German sentry was found dead near Sarajevo.

In Hungary, according to a London radio report, more arrests of Jews have taken place during the last few days. Executions on the charge of sabotage are similarly reported as having taken place in Hungary. Stricter surveillance over the Jewish population is reported to have been imposed in Greece, Bulgaria and the Czech Protectorate as a result of the anti-sabotage measures taken by the Nazis.
