Intensification of relief work among Jews in the parts of Poland which the Nazis have annexed to Germany is reported here today with the opening of a branch office of the American Joint Distribution Committee in Sosnowietz, Poland, to supervise and coordinate the work in East Upper Silesia and the Warthegau which includes the Lodz and Posen districts.
The JDC office was established following consultations with the representatives of the JDC in Krakau which supervises the relief work for the Jews in Nazi-held Poland and with the Reichsvereinighung in Berlin, which conducts the institute a better control of relief funds distributed in the annexed Polish areas and a more coordinated program for the entire territory.
