Citting the Jewish enlistment record as an example, War Services Minister Thorson told the House of Commons that many groups of alien origin were enlisting in Canada’s armed forces in numbers as great or greater than any other section of the population of Canada.

“People say that the Jews are not enlisting. The number of Jews in this country is about 170,000. The number of Jews who have enlisted for active service is somewhere between 3,000 and 4,000. It is not a bad average,” the minister stated.
