More than 100 Jews are now working in Vatican City as gardeners, bookbinders and librarians, it was disclosed here today. Some former Jewish professors ousted from Italian universities under the anti-Jewish laws, have been employed by the Vatican for research work. Since the introduction of anti-Semitic measures in Italy, the Vatican has on several occasions assailed racial discrimination and anti-Semitic persecution. The former Pope, Pius XI, branded the introduction of the laws as an “unhappy imitation of Nazi Germany.”
