Gardista, Hlinka Guard newspaper, today explains the reason for the recent curfew order confining Jews in Slovakia to their homes between three o’clock in the afternoon and six o’clock in the morning. The paper states that the measure was taken for the “Jews’ own protection since November is the painful anniversary of the date in 1938 when the Jews in Bratislava and Kosice demonstrated for an alliance with Hungary,” and some Jews were attacked during the demonstration.
