The demand that the British Government issue a statement on Jewish rights in Palestine, similar to the Balfour Declaration issued during the first World War, was voiced in the house of Commons today by Geoffrey Mander, Conservative.
“His Majesty’s Government does not think it necessary to make further statements regarding Palestine,” was the reply given by Clement Attlee, Lord Privy Seal. Queried by Mander as to whether the British Government still stands by the Balfour Declaration, Mr. Attlee replied by referring to Prime Minister Churchill’s statement made in Commons on July 30, in which he said that “there is no need for any change in the policy of His Majesty’s Government regarding Palestine.”
