Enrollment of Palestine Jewish Women in W.a.t.s. Begins Tomorrow

Enrollment of Jewish women in Palestine, between the ages of 20 and 48, in the Auxiliary Territorial Service will begin on Tuesday of this week, it was announced here today. A staff of ATS officers and non-commissioned officers is en route from England to assist in the training of recruits. The first course will be extended to sixty suitable candidates as officers and NCOs. It is proposed to begin the course early in January, to last six weeks.

Uniform, underclothing, equipment, free rations, accommodations, fuel and light will be provided for the recruits. The pay on enrollment will be a shilling and two pence daily, plus four pence daily as war-pay, which will be increased on promotion or on passing a trade test; while proficiency pay of three pence daily will be allowed after six months’ service. Outside of Palestine the pay will amount to two shillings one pence daily.
