Jewish federation and welfare fund leaders throughout the United States will discuss the communal duties and responsibilities facing American Jewish communities as a result of the war at the ninth annual General Assembly of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds which will be held at the Drake Hotel in Chicago from January 31 to February 2, it was announced here today by the Council.

Reflecting the nation-wide demand for intensive examination of the new wartime problems, the plan for the 1942 General Assembly represents a departure from previous practice, according to Samuel Markell of Boston, chairmen of the Program Committee. Invitations will be extended only to accredited delegates designated by member agencies.

Official notification of the 1942 Assembly was sent to the 216 member agencies of the Council together with the proposed by-laws’ revision which will be submitted to the membership of the Council for final action at the Chicago meeting. Assembly sub-committees have been selected and are now meeting to prepare reports which will constitute the basis of the Assembly discussions.
