Nazi authorities in the Czech Protectorate this week resumed the deportation of Jews from Prague but this time the Jews are being sent not to German-occupied Eastern territory, but to the large concentration camp of Thersienstadt.
An order issued by the Nazi authorities in Prague prohibits the sending of food and other packages to the Jews in Camp Thersienstadt. The camp has been designated as a “Jewish camp” where the treatment of the internees is especially severe.
In Bratislava, capital of the Nazi puppet-State of Slovakia, Jews were forbidden to appear in streets on Christmas Day. Many Jews are now being expelled from Bratislava to barracks outside the city. The victims include inmates of the Jewish homes for aged. Simultaneously, Jews in Bratislava have been ordered to deliver to the police any typewriters and adding machines in their possession. A penalty of twelve hours to fourteen days of imprisonment, or 10,000 to 50,000 kronen fine is provided for violation of this order.
