London-born Jewish General of Chinese Army Executed by the Japanese

Morris Abraham Cohen, the fifty-year old Chinese General, known as General Ma, a former resident of Winnipeg, has been captured and shot by the Japanese, according to a report published in the Winnipeg Tribune last night.

Born in the Jewish section of London, Cohen came to Winnipeg at the age of 12. In 1922 he went to China where he become associated with Dr. Sun Yat Sen, founder of the Chinese Republic. Later he was commander-in-chief of the Chinese Nationalist Army.
