Fifty Norwegian Organizations Dissolved Because “infected with Jewish Spirit”

Fifty Norwegian organizations have been dissolved by the Quisling administration on the charge that they are “infected with the Jewish spirit,” the Svenska Dagbladet reports today. The Swedish newspaper reviews the measures taken against Jews in Norway and predicts that more anti-Jewish laws can be expected to be introduced there.

At the same time, Nazi-controlled newspapers in Norway today published an “explanation” of why the Quisling government has found it desirable to issue a law prohibiting the entrance of Jews into Norway. This law was necessitated by the fact that there are 10,000 Jews in Norway today as compared with 3,000 in 1930, the pro-Nazi Norwegian press reports.

Taking issue with this report, the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter denies that there are more than 3,000 Jews in Norway today. The Swedish newspaper also carries a report from Norway quoting the Norwegian Commissar for Justice as saying at a public meeting that the law banning the entrance of Jews into Norway “is actually a part of the constitution.” The Quisling official “informed” his audience that such a law existed long ago in Norway but was abolished in 1851 despite the fact that it was incorporated in the second paragraph of the Norwegian constitution. “The re-introduction of this law became necessary as part of building our state on the basis of our constitution,” the Quisling commissar is reported as having stated.

ONE ANTI-JEWISH LAW FOR ALL NAZI-DOMINATED EUROPEAN COUNTRIES SUGGESTED

The Nazi organ Frittfolk reports that the new anti-Jewish legislation in Norway is the result of a program suggested by Quisling to Hitler which provides for a “common law regarding Jews in the whole of Europe.” This program, the Nazi paper reveals, was proposed by Quisling during his visit to Berlin last year. The paper emphasizes that Quisling is playing an important part in shaping the “European anti-Jewish policy.”

The Aftenposten reports that the Quisling Ministry of Justice is now preparing a “law for the protection of the Norwegian race” aimed at preserving “racial purity” in the country. The law will provide for the sterilization of people who indulge in mixed “racial” marriages.
