Hungary’s 1,250,000 Jews Will Be Treated As “racially Alien Elements”

The million and a quarter Jews now living in Hungary are considered “racially alien elements” and will be treated as such, it is stated by Dr. Tibor von Papkay, head of the Minorities Department of the Hungarian Ministry of the Interior, in a report quoted today in the Nazi newspaper Donau Zeitung.

Declaring that forty percent of the Hungarian population are non-Maygars, Dr. von Papkay stated that ten percent consist of 1,250,000 Jews and 300,000 gypsies, who also fall into the “racially alien” category. The other thirty percent, who are considered “recognized ethnical minorities” include Germans, Rumanians, Ruthenes, Slovaks, Croats, Wends, Serbs and others. Only these latter groups will enjoy full rights, the Hungarian official declares.
